About

Real Android specs, reported by the devices themselves.

specdeviceinfo is an open hardware database for Android phones — built by the team behind DevCheck AI, a free Android diagnostics app.

Why this site exists

Almost every Android spec page on the web copies the manufacturer's marketing sheet — the same bullet points, the same chipset name, the same screen resolution. That's fine for buying a brand-new phone in a store, but it falls apart the moment you're looking at a second-hand listing, a refurbished unit, an emulator, or a cloud phone. The marketing page can't tell you whether the phone in front of you is actually what the seller says it is.

We took the opposite approach: every record in specdeviceinfo is what the device reports about itself at the operating system level — the actual Build.MANUFACTURER, Build.SOC_MODEL, sensor list, GPU vendor, kernel version, screen DPI, ABI list, and so on. The same fields that ad networks, antivirus tools, and bank apps use to identify a device.

Where the data comes from

The database aggregates Android hardware fingerprints from several sources:

  • Publicly accessible community datasets — Android enthusiasts have been uploading device fingerprints for over a decade. We index and normalize this public data.
  • DevCheck AI users — when our app users opt in, anonymized hardware fingerprints contribute back to the public database (no IMEI, no MAC, no account identifiers).
  • Our own test fleet — we own and physically test a small set of reference devices to spot-check correctness.

What makes it different

  • Self-reported, not marketing. If a device says it has 4 cores, we record 4 — even when the brochure says 8.
  • Hardware and software fingerprint. Each entry has ~30 fields, including sensors, ABIs, OpenGL strings — not just SoC and RAM.
  • Designed for trust checks. Cross-reference your own phone's fingerprint to detect emulators, counterfeits, cloud phones, or suspicious refurbs (see the Hardware Trust Score).
  • Free and ad-supported. No paywall, no account, no data resale.

The DevCheck AI app

DevCheck AI is the Android companion to this database. Install it, and in 3 seconds you'll get a full hardware fingerprint of your phone, plus a 0–100 Hardware Trust Score that compares it against the community dataset. It's free, has no account, and works fully offline once installed.

Who runs this

specdeviceinfo and DevCheck AI are independent projects run by a small team of Android developers. We're not affiliated with Google, any chipset vendor, or any phone manufacturer. We're not VC-funded and we have no sales team — if you want to reach us, the Contact page is the only channel.

What we don't do

  • We don't collect personal data from website visitors beyond standard analytics (see our Privacy Policy).
  • We don't sell, license, or share device fingerprint data with third parties.
  • We don't fingerprint or track individuals across sessions.
  • We don't write paid reviews or accept money to feature a device.
